Berry Syrup

What You'll Need

1 lemon peel, 3"x1"
1 tbsp lemon juice
1 orange peel, 3"x1"
1tbsp orange juice
¼ cup sugar
¼ cup water
1 cup mixed berries of your choice

Preparation:

Combine the lemon and orange peel, sugar and water in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Immediately reduce heat and add the berries. Simmer the mixture for about 5 minutes, then remove saucepan from heat. Allow to cool for about ½ hour, then discard the peel.

Place the berry mixture into a food processor and blend until smooth. Pour berries into a medium-mesh sieve and press the berries through the sieve with the back of a spoon into a bowl. This should get rid off the seeds. Mix in the lemon and orange juice and combine well. Cover with wrap and chill in the refrigerator for a few hours.
