Are you having a bad day? The kids are fighting, the cleaning is half done, the clothes are in the wash, and your spouse informs you at the last moment he is bringing his boss home for dinner. Had enough? Try meditation.
It’s not working, is it? You are too wound up and need to relax a little before you attempt meditation again. The first thing to do is begin stretching. Find a quiet room and begin deep breathing exercises. Are you feeling a bit more relaxed? If so, you are ready to meditate.
While meditation can reduce stress and bring about an inner peace and calm, it is not something you can turn on and off like a faucet. While deep-breathing exercises can reduce stress levels, according to yoga experts, there are four periods in the day that are considered the best times for meditation. They are sunrise, mid-day, sunset, and midnight. It is also mentioned that the time at which tranquility is at its peak will last approximately 45 minutes. This is directly in line with the inner self calling for the nature/nurture experience.
Although you may not be able to meditate during these specific times of day, choosing one of these periods will nonetheless bring you inner peace and alleviate the stress. It is recommended whatever time of the day you choose, that you meditate the same time every day.
With all that is going on in your life, it is important to gather all of your thoughts that have been scattered in all different directions and collect them and eradicate them from your mind. Once you have achieved this method of removing all thoughts unrelated to your state of meditation, you can then begin focusing on one object, one image, and ultimately find peace and tranquility.
